Udta Punjab Again Faces Problems From Censor Board

Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh which is going to release on June 17, 2016 has got in trouble with Central Board For Film Certification ( CBFC ). Central Board For Film Certification has not given Certification to the movie and Stopped from screening citing that the film contains abusive dialogues and it shows Punjab in poor light. The Censor Board demanded the Film Makers that cuss words should be edited out. The Film Makers have to make 90 Cute if they have to release the movie.
The Film is based on the problem of the Punjab youths getting Drug Addicts. The Film's main character is of a Rockstar Musician, played by Shahid Kapoor which is liberal with expletives. Cutting the main Scenes will take the movie away from the narrative, Production Team Said. The Film Maker's also asked for Adult Certification.

Now the Censor Board also wants the makers to drop the name of Punjab from the movie title.
Recently a committe was set up by I&B Ministry to look into the matter and also to upgrade the outdated Cinematograph Act of 1952, committee headed by veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal. The team has submitted the report. But the Ministry hasn't acted on it.
